The French Club at Carbondale Area Jr./Sr. High School recently elected new officers for the 2019-2010 school year.

The club hopes to host a cheese festival, celebrate Christmas with a French dinner and take a trip to a French restaurant. It also set goals to learn more about French culture and enhance the study of the French language.

The recently elected officers are President Mckinley Borders, Vice President Colin Bannon, Secretary Shane Phillips and Treasurer Donnica Reese. Chris Kozel, an English and French teacher at Carbondale Area, is the club advisor.

Mckinley says being an officer of the French Club will be beneficial for her later in life.

“I like to have the responsibility for organizing the events we host as a club,” she said. “French is my favorite class. I’d like to pursue a career as a physician’s assistant. No doubt, my language training will come in handy.”
