The V. Rev. Mitred Archpriest John D. Sorochka, rector of St. John’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 706 Hill St., Mayfield, announced the following schedule of services for the Feast of the Nativity of Christ (Christmas) according to the Julian Calendar.

Sunday, Jan. 5:

Matins: 8 a.m.

Divine liturgy: 9:30 a.m.

General confession: Immediately following divine liturgy. (This confession is for all who have gone to holy confession during Advent.)

For those who are coming home to celebrate the Nativity Feast, private confessions will be heard following general confession.

Monday, Jan. 6:

Eve of the Nativity of Christ (strict fast day)

Vesper/liturgy of St. Basil and bringing out of the Icon of the Nativity: 8 p.m.

Great complines and matins: 7 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 7:

The Nativity of our Lord, God and Saviour Jesus Christ

Hours: 8:40 a.m.

Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom: 9 a.m.

Wednesday., Jan. 8:

Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos (second day of the Nativity)

Divine liturgy: 9:30 a.m.

Open house at the rectory following Divine Liturgy. Children will visit the nursing homes at 1 p.m. after open house. Carollers will visit homes of parishioners starting at 1 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 9:

Holy Protomartyr and Archdeacon Stephen (third day of the Nativity)

Divine liturgy: 8 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 11:

Confessions: 3:30 p.m. Vespers: 4 p.m.

Annual Church School Yolka (Christmas Pageant) presented by students of the religious education program will be held at 6 p.m. in the church center. Everyone is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Sunday, Jan. 12:

Sunday after Nativity: Commemoration of the holy righteous ones

Matins: 8 a.m. Divine liturgy: 9:30 a.m.

Responses to all services will be sung by St. John’s Cathedral Choir under the direction of Gary P. Brzuchalski.
