Main St. Entertainment will be provided by the Bill Weber and Marty Ort Jazz Duo. A variety of refreshments will also be served. Admissin is free.
“Kathy Fallon, a professional fine art photographer, has taken her chosen discipline, through the use of many digital techniques, into a new dimension of visual expression,” said Chamber Gallery director Ruthanne, adding that Fallon is able to call forth “emotions within the viewer which perhaps traditional photography would not be able to achieve.
“There comes a time, I think, with most photographers that you want to distinguish your work in some way from the rest of the pack,” Fallon said. “I certainly wanted to, and I tried a variety of techniques, with various degrees of success. But then came a moment that inspired me and lead me to my version of conceptual art. It was a quote I heard from fellow Scrantonian and Tony Award-winning playwright Stephen Karam. He said that he tells his students to write plays that only they can write. I immediately related that to my art, and decided that if I used my photographs in whole or in part, I could create works that no one else could. I had always wanted to have the freedom that painters have to place or alter objects in their own creative style. My new inspiration gave me that freedom. It was liberating and daunting at the same time. But I love every minute of this process.”
The exhibit will run through Oct. 19. The Chamber Gallery is free and open to the public weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information visit the Chamber Gallery page on Facebook.
