The season for bus trips has begun and here are a few departing from our area:
• Marywood’s Life Long Learners will take a bus trip to West Point on Wednesday, Oct. 3. The bus will leave from Marywood at 8 a.m. and includes a guided tour and lunch at the Historic Thayer Hotel. The cost is $120 per person.
On Monday, Dec. 3, the group will visit Longwood Gardens and lunch will also be included for $110 per person. For reservations, call 570-383-0544.
• The Carbondale Public Library is hosting a wine tasting bus trip to the Seneca Lake Wine Region on Saturday Oct. 13. The cost is $50. Proceeds benefit the library.
The group will visit the Windmill Farm and Craft Market, then three wineries: Glenora Winery ($7 tasting fee), Torrey Ridge Winery and Fulkerson Winery (both $5 tasting fees). Dinner will be at Jerlando’s. The tasting fees are not included with the bus fee and will be collected the day of for those who want to participate in the wine tasting. • The Valley Community Library arranged a bus trip to New York City to visit the “Harry Potter: A History Of Magic” exhibit at the New York Historical Society on Saturday, Oct. 27. Cost is $70 and includes exhibit entrance, a guided tour and the bus ride ($40 for the bus ride alone). Proceeds benefit the library.
The exhibit will feature rare books, manuscripts and objects related to magic from the British Library; original drafts from J.K. Rowling’s archives; Brian Selznick’s illustrations and cover art, costumes and set models from the Broadway play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.” The bus leaves Valley Community Library in Peckville at 7 a.m. to arrive at West 77th Street in New York; at 4:30 p.m., the bus will leave from Eighth Avenue and 51st Street for the return trip. Tickets must be paid for with cash or check at the time of reservation. More details are available at the library.
