Parents Night Out

The Dickson City Civic Center, 935 Albert St., will hold a "parents night out" Friday, Dec. 21, 6:30-10:30 p.m. Children from kindergarteners to sixth-graders will enjoy crafts, games, Wii and snacks. Parents are asked to contact the Center at 383-1813 or stop by to register their children. Cost is $7 for Dickson City residents; $10 for non-residents. Ask about the family discount.

Holiday Trash Pickup

- In Archbald Borough, there will be no trash collection on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. Tuesday pickups will take place Wednesday and Wednesday pickups will take place on Thursday. The same schedule will be followed for both holidays.

- In Throop Borough: Recycling collection will take place on Wednesday instead of Tuesday for both Christmas and New Year's Day.

- In Mayfield Borough: Refuse and recyclables will be collected as usual on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Have items curbside early, since the haulers will begin collections earlier on both days.

Fire Station Officers

The Gratton Singer Hose Co., Station 61 in Simpson, held its reorganization meeting recently. Members unanimously elected the following officers: president Ryan Cosklo, vice president Peter Saltisiak Sr., treasurer Joseph Celbusky, secretary Francis Evarts, financial secretary Peter Saltisiak Jr. and fire chief Joseph Unis Sr.

Chief Unis, serving his 13th year as fire chief, chose Francis Evarts as assistant fire chief, Peter Saltisiak Jr. as captain and Ryan Cosklo as lieutenant.
