Christmas Tree Sale

Excelsior Hose Co. No. 1 in Olyphant will sell Christmas trees; all trees were freshly cut by the members, trees range from 6-9 feet. Cost for all trees are $35, trees are for sale every evening or you may call 570-307-5085 for special pick-up.

Church Pierogie Sale

Parishioners of St. John’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Mayfield will hold a homemade “pierogie” sale for the holidays on Friday, Dec. 14, noon to 4 p.m. at St. John’s Center, Hill Street. The pierogies (deep fried or uncooked, frozen) will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis. Orders will be taken for frozen, uncooked pierogies. Pierogies are $7 per dozen. To place orders for the frozen, raw pierogies, call 570-876-0730 or 570-876-3576.

Homemade clam chowder will also be sold at $8 per quart. Deadline for orders is Monday, Dec. 10.

Craft and Vendor Fair

A holiday craft and vendor fair will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dickson City Civic Center, 935 Albert St. Admission is free. There will also be basket raffles. Visit the center’s Facebook page or call 570-383-1813 for more information.

Church Offers Free Lunch

A free monthly community luncheon will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 15, noon to 1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 River St. in Carbondale. Catholic Social Services will provide a produce distribution at this luncheon. Everyone is welcome. Call 570-282-3620, for more information.

Cookie Sale

The 11th annual Christmas cookie sale, sponsored by Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Jermyn. All cookies must be pre-ordered by calling 570-876-4160 or Mary Fran 570-876-3565, or by dropping the order forms into the “cookie box” in the back of the church. Pre-orders must be placed by Sunday, Dec. 9, and the cookies may be picked up on Saturday, Dec. 15 in the parish center on Madison Avenue, 10 a.m. until noon. These delicious home-baked holiday treats are available in one-pound packages for $8 or two-pound packages for $15 each.

Bread/Kolachi Sale

Parishioners of St. John’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Mayfield will hold a homemade “bread and kolachi” sale on Thursday, Dec. 20, between noon and 4 p.m. St. John’s Center, Hill Street, Mayfield. Homemade plain and with raisin bread will be sold along with homemade nut, poppyseed, lekvar and apricot kolachi. The loaf-size bread will be $5 each; round loaves and kolachi are $10 each. Holiday Trash Schedule

In Archbald, pickup scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 25, and Wednesday, Dec. 26, will be one day late. The same schedule will be followed for the New Year’s holiday. No change to Monday pickups or recycling.
