GETTY FREEDOM IMAGES The Greater Carbondale YMCA is offering youth swim lessons in January.

The Greater Carbondale YMCA is offering the following programs this month. To regiester for any program or for more information, call the Y at 570-282-2210.

Swim lessons

The next session of progressive swim lessons begins in January. Saturday morning lessons are eight weeks and start Jan. 4 for infants, toddlers and youth. The eight-week session on Monday evenings begins Jan. 20 for youth and the Wednesday evening session for youth starts Jan. 8.

Kickball at the YMCA

Children ages 3-6 are invited to play kickball at the YMCA. This four-week program begins Saturday, Jan. 4. A session for ages 3 and 4 is at 10:30 a.m. and ages 5 and 6 at 11:30 a.m. Each session lasts 45 minutes. The kids will learn the basics of kicking, catching and base running.

Lifeguard certification

The YMCA will hold a week-long lifeguard certification course starting on Monday, Jan. 6 from 5-9 p.m. The course includes lifeguarding, first aid, CPR for the professional rescuer and the AED machine. Participants must pass a pretest to continue taking the course.

CPR certification

The YMCA will hold a basic CPR Course on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 9 a.m. or 5 p.m. The certification includes basic life support for infants, children and adults and the AED machine. Additional certification courses are held the first Tuesday of each month.
