NOV. 24 All Wrapped Up holiday shopping event: Sunday, Nov. 24, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Hotel Anthracite, 25 South Main St., Carbondale. Hosted by the Carbondale chapter of UNICO National. More than 25 vendors will be on hand with a selection of unique items for sale. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or from a member of Carbondale UNICO. This event supports charities in Carbondale.
Town lighting ceremony: Sunday, Nov. 24 from 2-6 p.m. at the Dickson City Municipal Building on Enterprise Street, the Dickson City Christmas Light and Banner Association will host the sixth annual town lighting ceremony. The event is free to all Dickson City residents and children. The event will include two horse drawn sleigh and carriage rides, Damian the Magician, arts and crafts for the children, holiday movies, caroling, a lighting ceremony for the 14-foot outdoor holiday tree, announcement of the coloring contest winners, a visit by Gretchen the Elf, Tux and Santa Clause, gifts for the children and refreshments for all.
NOV. 28 Eynon-Archbald Lions Club’s annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner: Hot dinners will be prepared and delivered to residents of Eynon, Archbald, Sturges and Nebraska between 10 and 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Food pantry closed for the holidays: Due to special distribution for Thanksgiving and Christmas there will be no Food Pantry at St. James-St. George Episcopal during the months of November and December. It will be back on the last Wednesday of the month starting Jan. 29, 2020 from 11 a.m. to noon. Instead of normal hours, a community meal will be on Saturday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Volunteers needed: Serving Seniors, Inc. is looking for individuals and groups of all ages to write and send/hand deliver personalized Christmas cards to area nursing and assisted living/personal care home residents who may not receive a Christmas card this holiday season.
