The Joseph C. Karolewicz Chapter of the Holy Name Society (HNS) of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Throop recently held its ninth annual Communion breakfast.

The principal speaker was Rev. Donald J. Williams, diocesan director of vocations and seminarians, a native of Dunmore, and in-residence at St. Claire/St. Paul Parish in Scranton. The Holy Name recognized senior altar-server and family festival volunteer Jesse Doyle, daughter of Paul and Karen Doyle and a sophomore at Marywood University.

Also lauded were Erica and Dan Nemitz, Erica is a Mid Valley School District senior and Dan is an eighth-grader in the district. Both were honored for their work assisting at the altar at Blessed Sacrament Parish and in the community. They are the children of Carol and Ray Nemitz.

The HNS was led into the church by members of Herbert Clark American Legion Post No. 180, Peter Puhalla commander. The post also purchased a decorative United States Flag for use in the parish hall. Anthony “Zaz” Zelazny was toastmaster. Adam Nosak is society president. Monsignor Michael J. Delaney is pastor. Deacon John Musyt and his wife Jackie were also in attendance. Mayor Joseph Tropiak of Throop offered remarks.
