Valley View softball booster club will hold a mandatory first meeting of the season on Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. in the high school library. Agenda: fundraising for the upcoming season.
Valley View School District’s Kindergarten Information Night will be held on Thursday, March 15, for parents and students of the 2018-’19 kindergarten class. The information night will be held at the Valley View Elementary School beginning at 6:30 p.m. During the evening, you will be given a preview of what a typical day of a kindergarten student looks like, including an overview of our academic program. Kindergarten teachers, as well as other faculty members, will be available to answer any questions that you may have.
Additionally, tours of the school including the kindergarten classrooms will be offered. Please limit attendance to parents/guardians and the incoming kindergarten students. If you plan on attending, RSVP at 570-489-7579 by Monday, March 12. When responding, leave your name, your child’s name and the number of people attending.
Local residents were among the 147 University of Scranton students who studied abroad during the Intersession 2018 semester. Participating were: Cassandra Lucke of Archbald, who participated in a physical therapy service trip in various cities in Guatemala; Christina Parry of Peckville, who participated in the university travel course, Christianity in the Middle East in Jerusalem, Israel; Samantha Zilla of Throop, who participated in the university travel course, Global Health Management in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Marissa Galardi of Archbald, who studied in Spain and Rome.
Area residents are among 22 University of Scranton education majors serving as student teachers during the spring semester at nine local schools. They were: Siena Cardamone of Mayfield, who will teach at Valley View Intermediate School; Mary Brennan of Browndale, who will teach at Honesdale High School.
• Loyola University Maryland has announced the students that qualified for its fall dean’s list. The following local students are among them: Cameron Bullet from Jermyn, Eric Muchisky from Archbald and Jessica Regan from Archbald.
• Patrick O’Shea, of Olyphant has been placed on the Gettysburg College dean’s honor list for outstanding academic achievement in the fall semester.
