Student Athletes Honored
Local residents were among 63 University of Scranton student-athletes named to the Landmark Conference fall academic honor roll, which recognizes student-athletes who have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher and are at least at a sophomore level academically.
Among the students honored were: William Hammert of Archbald, Walter Hammert of Archbald, Abigail Guziewicz of Peckville and Rachel Kerr of Archbald.
Carbondale Area School District will host a holiday breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 16, 8-11:30 a.m. at the Carbondale Area High School cafeteria. The cost for adults is $6; $2 for students; senior citizens and kids younger than 5 eat free. Transportation will also be provided for any senior citizen who needs a ride by the school’s busing company. Call 570-282-5656, ext. 2151 for more information. Tickets for the breakfast are available at the main office of both the Elementary and High Schools. You can also purchase your tickets at the door. There will also be holiday entertainment provided by students, plus a visit from Santa.
Pharmacy Students Honored
A student team representing the Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharamacy recently attended the Pennsylvania Pharamacists Association annual conference and was awarded a public relations and awareness award as well as the 2018 Membership Award from the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association.
The team included Cody Morcom of Scott Township and Nicole Hughes of Olyphant.
