Ken Stefin of Mr. Kenneth’s in Peckville receieved the inaugural Community Service Award for his work with “Pathway to Beauty” for cancer patients.

The people have spoken once again. The ballots have been counted, and here are the winners of The Valley Advantage’s Readers’ Choice poll for 2013.

In the best auto parts store category, the winner was Manasek Auto Parts. Cougar Auto Services won for best auto repair shop. The vote for best new car dealer was a tie between Gibbons Ford and Sylvester Chevrolet. The vote in best used car dealer was for Feel Good Motors. The vote for best gas station was won by Pop Pop’s Mini Mart in Peckville.

Penn Security Bank & Trust won for best bank/credit union. Friendliest bar was won by A.J.’s Club Soda . As it has in the past, the vote for best beer distributor went to Joe’s Beerman. The best barber shop prize went to Loyalty Barber Shop & Shave Parlor in Archbald. The Montdale branch of Honesdale National Bank took home the best customer service award.

Another perennial winner is Jus 4 Fun DJ Service for best professional party DJ , and this year was no exception. The vote for best drug store went to Family Pharmacy of Jessup. Speaking of perennials, another regular winner is in the best flower shop category, where Lavender Goose frequently takes home the prize and this year it was the same. The same goes for regular winner Rabel’s Furniture in the best furniture store category.

In the best grocery store vote, it’s always neck-and-neck between the two Quinn’s Markets. This year the Peckville store won out. Best hair salon this year was House of Style by Kim. The winner for best financial services agency was Ameriprise Financial.The best martial arts school prize this year went to Master Kovaleski’s Karate USA.

A new category this year, best place to buy a lottery ticket went to Cousin’s Convenient Mart. In the best daycare/preschool it was a tie between Kinder Kampus Preparatory and Wee Care Day Care Center. Another new category, best musical instrument store , went to Magdon Music.

The vote for best home heating oil co. went to Santarelli Oil Co. The b est wedding photographer vote went to Image Maker Photography. In the best place to buy an engagement ring category, Steve Pronko Diamonds won, as it has done every year.

It’s a similar story in the best fitness center, where Planet Fitness wins again.

Yet another regular winner is in the best shoe store category, where Clem’s Shoe Store won again. And yet another regular winner is in the best travel agency contest, where Around the World Travel wins again.

In the teacher categories, the award for best high school teacher was a three-way tie between Debra Foley and Kenneth Rupp of Valley View and Richard Therkorn of Mid Valley. Michael Yakacki of Mid Valley was voted best middle school teacher . For best elementary school teacher , Kimberly Yagelski of Valley View won the award. And for best high school coach , it went to the retiring Frank Pazzaglia of Mid Valley.

In the food categories, best restaurant went to Tiffany’s Tap & Grill. The best breakfast restaurant award went to The Eatery by Jessica. The award for b est brunch restaurant went to Sebastianelli’s Restaurant. The prize for best lunch restaurant went to Pete N’ Reenie’s. As the it has in the past, the best burger prize went to Five Guys. Another longtime favorite, Andy’s Pizza, won for best pizza . In the best cheese steak category the winner was Mainline Hoagie & Pizza Shop. Once again the winner in the best Italian restaurant vote was Rossi’s Ristorante.

For best bar food the selection was Smiler’s Grill & Bar. For best new restaurant , the vote was for Lil Turtle’s. The vote for best ice cream shop went to Russell’s Cool Scoops. In the hard-fought best fresh-made kielbasi category the clear winner was Bosak’s Choice Meats. The best caterer p[rize went to Olyphant’s Regal Room. The award for best romantic restaurant went to Bonnie & Clyde’s Hideaway. The best place to dine with kids prize went to McDonald’s.

The best waiter/waitress award went to Lisa Noviski at Sebastinelli’s Restaurant . The best bartender prize went to Linda Zipay at the Wildcat Saloon & Eatery. Another annual winner is the Dunkin’ Donuts in Dickson City, in the best cup of coffee category , and this year they won again. The best dessert award went to Coccetti’s. For best diner the winner was Six East Restaurant. The vote for best pasta went to Colarusso’s Cafe.

The best wings prize went to Windsor Inn. Another regular winner is in the best hoagie/sub category , where Steve & Irene’s took the award again.

Finally, we eliminated the “best plumber” category, but in best category we forgot , you remembered and voted for it to go back in, and the winner was Walsh Plumbing & Heating.
